50 Women in the Bible You May or May Not Know

Are you ready to look at some women in the Bible? I have listed 50 of them that you may or may not know. I have given you the Bible references as well so that you can look them up.

  1. Abigail #1 David’s sister (1 Chronicles 2:15-17); Abigail #2 David’s wife (1 Samuel 25:36-44)
  1. Achsah – The daughter of Caleb (1 Chronicles 2:49)
  1. Ahinoam #1 – Wife of King Saul, mother of Michal,  (1 Samuel 14:50); Ahinoam #2 King David’s wife (1 Samuel 25:43; 2 Samuel 2:2)
  1. Aholibahah – One of Esau’s wives (Genesis 36:18)
  1. Anna the Prophetess – An elderly Jewish woman who prophesied about Jesus (Luke 2:36-38)
  1. Athaliah – A wicked Queen of Judah during the reign of King Jehoram (2 Chronicles 24:7)
  1. Bathsheba – Wife of Uriah the Hittite and later the wife of King David and mother of Solomon (1 Kings 1:11)
  1. Bilhah – Rachel’s handmaid and Jacob’s concubine and also the mother of Jacob’s sons Dan and Naphtali (Genesis 30:3-5; 35:25)
  1. Candace – Ethiopian queen. Her eunuch is the one that Philip led to God (Acts 8:27)

Salome #2 – A follower of Jesus who was there for His crucifixion and then again at the empty tomb (Mark 15:40, 16:1).

  1. Cozbi – An evil Midianite princess who was killed because her influence was believed to be the source of the plague among the Israelites (Numbers 25:6-18)
  1. Deborah #1 Rebekah, Jacob and Esau’s nursemaid (Genesis 35:8); Deborah #2 A prophetess and the first Judge in Israel (Judges 4:4-6)
  1. Delilah – The woman whom Samson loved (Judges 16:4-21)
  1. Dorcas – Also known as Tabitha whom Peter raised from the dead in Joppa (Acts 9:36-42)
  1. Elisabeth – Wife of Zacharias, mother of John the Baptist (Luke 1:5-80)
  1. Ephrath – Second wife of Caleb the spy (1 Chronicles 2:19)
  1. Esther – Also known as Hadassah. Queen of the Persian Empire whose husband was King Ahasuerus (Book of Esther)
  1. Eunice – Timothy’s mother (2 Timothy 1:5)
  1. Eve – First Woman and wife of Adam (Genesis 2 and 3)
  1. Gomer – Wife of Hosea; A Prostitute that the Lord told Hosea to take as wife (Hosea 1:1-11)
  1. Hagar – Sarah’s handmaid and the mother of Ishmael by Abraham (Genesis 21:9-17)
  1. Hamutal – Wife of Josiah who had two ungodly sons Jehoahaz and Zedekiah (2 Kings 23:31, 24:18; Jeremiah 52:1-2)
  1. Hannah – A prophetess and the mother of Samuel (1 Samuel 1 & 2)
  1. Helah – One of Ashur’s wives (1 Chronicles 4:5)
  1. Hodesh – One of the wives of Shaharaim (1 Chronicles 8:8-9)
  1. Hushim – Another one of the wives of Shaharaim (1 Chronicles 8:8-9)
  1. Iscah – Abram’s niece (Genesis 11:29)
  1. Jael – Woman who killed Sisera to save Israel from King Jabin (Judges 4:17-22)
  1. Jedidah – Wicked King Manessah’s wife and mother of young King Josiah (2 Kings 22:1-2)
  1. Jemima – One of Job’s daughters (Job 42:14)
  1. Joanna – One of the women who went to Jesus’s tomb to prepare his body for burial (Luke 8:2-3)
  1. Jochebed – Mother of Moses, Aaron and Miriam (Exodus 6:20)
  1. Keren-Happuch – One of Job’s daughters (Job 42:14)
  1. Keziah – Another one of Job’s daughters (Job 42:14)
  1. Leah – Jacob’s first wife (Genesis 29 & 30)
  1. Lois – Timothy’s grandmother (2 Timothy 1:5)
  1. Lydia – One of the first Christianity converts in Thyatira (Acts 16:14-15)
  1. Mahalath – Ishmael’s daughter and one of Esau’s wives (Genesis 28:9)

  1. Rachel – The wife whom Jacob loved (Genesis 29:25-31)
  1. Rahab – A harlot whom hid Joshua’s messengers from evil men in Jericho (Joshua 6:17-25)
  1. Salome #1 – The daughter of Herodias (Herod’s step daughter) who had John the Baptist beheaded (Mark 6:21-29) Salome #2 – A follower of Jesus who was there for His crucifixion and then again at the empty tomb (Mark 15:40, 16:1)
  1. Susanna – A follower of Jesus (Luke 8:3)
  1. Tamar #1 – Daughter of Judah (Genesis 38), Tamar #2 – Daughter of King David (2 Samuel 13), Tamar #3 – Daughter of David’s son Absalom (2 Samuel 14:27)
  1. Zilpah – Leah’s handmade whom bare Jacob’s sons Gad and Asher (Genesis 29:24; 30:9-13)
  1. Zipporah – Wife of Moses and daughter of Jethro (Exodus 2:21-22; 18:2)
